JOHN PATRICK SEARS GOLF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

(two awards of $1,000 each)

Award Criteria:

• Students currently attending High School:  An applicant's transcript must show successful completion of high school (Grade 12) with a minimum average of 75%, or equivalent, over the last academic year.
• Students currently attending University or College:  An applicant's transcript must show an average of 75% or its grade point equivalent over the last academic year.
• Successful experience in competitive golf at the provincial or regional levels, prior to the time of application.
• Participation in extracurricular and/or community activities.

Award Policies:

• The John Patrick Sears Golf Scholarship program offers scholarships valued at $1,000.
• A scholarship award is contingent upon an applicant being accepted at a recognized University of his or her choice.
• Consideration will be given to applicants who are high school graduates (or about to graduate) who have completed two years or less of college or university at the time of the application, provided all conditions of the award are met.
• Candidates will be judged on the basis of substantiated information contained in their application and support material.  Applicants may be asked to appear before the Scholarship Committee.
• In order to remain eligible for scholarship funding, recipients must maintain their status as an amateur golfer as defined in the Royal Canadian Golf Associations Rules of Amateur Status.  In the event of investigations surrounding alleged amateur status violations, scholarship funding may be withheld pending a final decision on the matter.

High School Students:

• The Principal's Evaluation Report must be completed by the High School Principal and returned by him/her to:  NB Golf Association Scholarship Committee, PO Box 1555, Station A, Fredericton, NB  E3B 5G2.
• Three letters of recommendation are required to support the application.  Letters must be sent to the Scholarship Committee by each of the following:
  
  • President of the Home Club
  • NBGA Director of the Home Club
  • High School Teacher
