Tournament Guidelines

 

 

Membership: All players must be a member in good standing of a recognized golf association and in possession of a “Golf Canada Membership Card” or a recognized national equivalent.

Handicap Verification; Players whose member clubs use the RCGA Handicap System, for handicap verification, will not be required to present verification of handicap, as the NBGA will be verifying handicaps, using the RCGA Network, prior to all NBGA events.  However, all players whose member clubs does not use the RCGA Handicap System will be required to present an ‘RCGA Certified Handicap Factor’ form, certified by a member of their home club’s handicap committee, along with their 'Golf Canada Membership Card'.  The ‘RCGA Certified Handicap Factor’ form can be accessed, in English and French, through the 'Member Resource Center' at www.rcga.org.

Entrance PolicyEntry preference will be given to members of the NBGA Member Clubs and teams with at least one member of a NBGA Member Club.  All players allowed entrance to an event are eligible to be named champion.

Conduct:  Entrants are warned that conduct considered detrimental to the best interests of the game, or unbecoming of a contestant, withe on or off the golf course, and coming to the attention of the Tournament Committee, will be dealt with an can result in disqualification of the offending person(s).  Extreme misconduct may be referred to the NBGA Discipline Committee.  Players actions and conduct will be governed by NBGA Disciplinary Guidelines.

NBGA Dress Code:  Players must dress in a manner that is appropriate.  Golf Shoes (soft spikes only) and running shoes are allowed on the golf course.  Cleated shoes (soccer, fottball, baseball, etc.), high heeled shoes or boots are not allowed.  Golf Shirts must have collars and sleeves.  All pants worn on the course or in the club must be in good repair (no holes, badly stained, etc.) must have hems, and no blue jeans allowed.  Dress shorts may be work but they must have pickets and should reach to not more than 4"above the knee. No other shorts, rugger pants, tank tops etc. will be allowed in any NBGA event. Women's shirts without sleeves must have collars and hems.  See-through, haltered shirts or tank tops are not allowed on the course as well as gym wear, tops with slogans or numbers, and any athletic apparel or sweaters from any other sport.

Automotive Cart Policy:  Except when specifically permitted by the NBGA Rules Committee, the use of automotive transportation is prohibited.

   In an effort to accommodate disabilities, the NBGA can allow, in exceptional circumstances, use of a power cart or other special equipment by a player who otherwise qualified for an amateur event and cannot, in the opinion of the Rules Committee for the competition, participate in such competition because of serious permanent physical impairment.  Such use can be denied if the Rules Committee believes that the use of such a power cart, or other special equipment, would give a player an undue advantage over the other players in the competition.

A current medical certificate along with a signed letter from the competitor's medical doctor describing the disability and explaining the player's needs, must be submitted at the time of entry.

Cellular Phones and Electronic Devices:  A local rule restricting the use of cellular phones and other electronic devices will be in effect for NBGA Class I events.  Please see the local rules distributed at each event for the exact wording of the rule.

Electronic Measuring Devices (EMDs): A local rule allowing the use of electronic measuring devices will be in effect for all NBGA Class I events.  Please see the local rules distributed at each Class I event for exact wording of the rule.

Champions:  Champions of the Men's Amateur, Ladies Amateur, Boys Junior, Girls Junior, Men's Mid-Amateur, Men's Senior, and Ladies Senior Championships will earn automatic berths into their respective NB teams for national competition provided they meet RCGA residency requirements.

Refund Policy: The New Brunswick Golf Association....

   ACCEPTS entries on a first come, first serve basis, unless otherwise stipulated.

   WILL NOT ACCEPT   - late or post-dated entries

                                        - post dated cheques

                                        - telephone entries

   ACCEPTS entries by fax only if they include payment by credit card

   WILL NOT assume responsibility for entries lost in the mail or by courier; Check the entry list ont he NBGA website to ensure your entry has been received.

   WILL NOT issue refunds if an entry is cancelled or withdrawn within one (1) week of the start of the event

   WILL CHARGE a $20.00 administration fee on all refunds.

   WILL ISSUE legitimate refunds only after an event has been completed, all entries have been reconciled and written notice of a play'ers intention to withdraw has been received bythe NBGA.

Ties:  All ties for championships (where a trophy is awarded) will decided by a 3-hole aggregate total play-off, then sudden victory if required.  All other ties will be equalized for prize distribution.

Entry Closing Date:  Entries close at 5:00 pm on the date of closing, or when the maximum number of entries have been realized; whichever comes first.  A list of alternates will be kept in case of withdrawals or medical cancellations.

In cases where the event is over subscribed, all entries received on the date when the maximum number is surpassed will be put into a hat and drawn by lot.

Exceptions:  The Men's Amateur Championship has a provision for a qualifying round if the maximum number of entries is received surpasses the maximum number of players allowed in the event.
