INTRODUCTION

The New Brunswick Golf Association, founded in 1934, is the official governing body for amateur golf in New Brunswick.  It is a not-for-profit organization created and controlled by golfers for the benefit of the game.  The NBGA has almost 15,000 individual members at 48 member clubs across the Province.

The mission of the NBGA is to preserve, service, develop, promote and govern the game of golf throughout New Brunswick.  The success of the NBGA and its many programs can be directly attributed to the hundreds of volunteer hours donated annual and to the dedication of the NBGA staff.

NB LADIES GOLF DISCUSSION GROUP

The NB Ladies Golf Discussion Group is an exciting way for New Brunswick golfing women to communicate.  It is an electronic mailing list, bulletin board, discussion site, and an educational tool, all in one.  To participate, all you need is email.  It is just a short computer procedure to join.

Here is how it works:  When you join the group, you will be provided with helpful information which you should save in both hard and electronic copies.  After you have joined, all messages that are sent to the list come automatically to you.  Every time you open your email, you will see all the messages that have been sent to the list since the last time you checked.  This way you can keep informed about golf news, ask or answer questions, perhaps buy used golf equipment from another golfer, learn about changes in golf events, etc.  If you wish to comment on a discussion or send a message, you can send an email.  Keep in mind that the NB Ladies Golf Group is an open forum and meant for all to use.  It is just like putting a notice on an actual bulletin board which we will all see and to which some of us will respond.  Please note that hitting the Reply button will send a message to the sender; hitting the Reply to All button will respond to the whole group.

How does the Group differ from the Listserve? Nothing has changed, with the exception of the address to which you send your message.

We cannot have a communication line without establishing some ground rules or "etiquette."  These are general rules all subscribers must accept in order to join the Listserv.  Our Listserv will work much better if we all follow these rules:

1. All messages & notices must be golf-related and of interest to NB women golfers

2. All messages sent to the list must have the “subject” section filled in.  If people receive a letter with no subject, they may not recognize it as coming from the list and may delete it as insurance against viruses.

3. Always reread your message to ensure that it is appropriate and that you have removed all extraneous information such as copies of previous postings

4. Be aware that your letter is an open letter and may be read by many

5. Of course, be polite and courteous at all times

6. No commercial advertising allowed.  Personal golf related classifieds are fine.

7. Attached documents are allowed – please be mindful of their size

8. Keep messages to a reasonable length.
